What Better Stack is
Better Stack is an incident platform that includes uptime checks: on-call rotations, escalation policies, incident management and multi-location monitoring in one product, with 10 monitors and 10 heartbeats on the free tier. It is built for an in-house engineering team with a rota, where the real question is not whether the site is down but who gets woken up for it. If you have that rota, they are built for you and we are not, and no row in the table below changes that. If you are one person watching thirty sites that belong to other people, the on-call half of the product is not the half you open, and 50 extra monitors are billed at 25 USD a month on top of the plan.

Where UptimeEZ is better
Better Stack answers who gets woken up. This one answers what is actually broken, which is the question left over at four in the morning when there is no rota to wake. Nine layout signals are read off the page a browser actually gets, forty-one database and application error signatures are caught inside a valid response, and puts a name to one of twenty-six causes with somewhere to look first, in the ten languages of the report your own client opens. Monitors are not a billable unit either: fifty more of them cost nothing.
Countable in the engine source, which is public and MIT: src/Check/Css.php for the nine layout signals, src/Check/Database.php for the forty-one error signatures, src/Diagnose.php for the twenty-six causes and their remedies, lang for the ten interface catalogues.

Questions we are asked about Better Stack
Thirty sites, three checks each, is ninety monitors. What does that cost on Better Stack?
Eighty monitors past the ten their free tier carries. Their page sells extras in blocks of fifty at 25 USD a month, so two blocks, 50 USD a month before the plan those blocks sit on top of. We carry no figure for that plan itself, so read their pricing page rather than a total we would be guessing at. The UptimeEZ hosted plan is 9.90 EUR a month and does not count monitors.
Two of us take turns being woken up at night. Is that a Better Stack job or an UptimeEZ one?
Better Stack, and this is where we lose cleanly. On-call rotations, escalation policies and incident management are a core feature of their product rather than an add-on, and UptimeEZ does none of the three: it alerts, and who it alerts is a list you maintain by hand. If the live question in your team is which of you takes the call at 3am, no row in our table answers it.
We watch forty nightly cron jobs. How far does Better Stack's free tier go?
Ten heartbeats, which is what their free tier includes, so the eleventh cron job is already past it. Their page prices extra monitors and says nothing about extra heartbeats, so we carry no figure for the fortieth one and will not invent it. UptimeEZ has cron and backup heartbeats as well, and counts neither them nor the sites they belong to.
Can UptimeEZ send its alerts into the incident tool we already use?
By webhook, and by email, Discord or Slack. There is no named Better Stack integration in UptimeEZ and we will not describe one that does not exist; what exists is a webhook fired when a check fails, which anything that accepts webhooks can receive. If their incident pipeline is the part of Better Stack you actually like, that is how you keep it.
A client asks where the measurements about their site are kept. What do UptimeEZ and Better Stack answer?
For UptimeEZ hosted: a dedicated OVH server in France, with one database per customer rather than one shared table holding everybody. Better Stack's pricing page, as we read it on 2026-07-29, does not announce where the data sits, so the honest answer to give your client is that you would have to ask them.
